Jessica is IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) & Birth Doula
Supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and lactation is my passion in life. My interest began when I was pregnant with my oldest son almost 18 years ago. While I was pregnant I read everything about pregnancy and lactation that I could find. After my oldest son was born I found a love of helping new mothers with breastfeeding. I have been a La Leche League Leader for 12 1/2 years, IBCLC for 9 years, and birth doula for 4 1/2 years. I would love to support your family through your pregnancy and breastfeeding journey.
I moved from California to McAllen in 2007. After the amazing water-birth of my son in 2010 I felt compelled to share what I had learned from my own childbirth classes and birth experience. I earned a certification as a childbirth educator and have been teaching classes since 2011. I currently am a Birth Boot Camp Instructor. In 2012 I began attending births as a doula. I received my birth doula certification through Childbirth International in 2013, and soon after formed my company Compassionate Birth Services, LLC.
My birth philosophy is simple, I believe that a woman's birth experience will be the most memorable event of their life and I want that experience to be positive. My role as a doula and educator is to guide my clients through the birthing world by using my years of experience and labor support. This enables them to be a part of the decision making with their care provider, allowing them to walk away from their birth feeling empowered throughout the entire process.
I’d love to talk with you about how I can help you have an amazing birth here in the RGV. I offer several different Birth Boot Camp childbirth/newborn care classes, birth doula services, and placenta encapsulation. Contact me for a free consultation!
My husband and I had the unique privilege of being assisted into the world by the same midwife. When it came time to start our own family we were naturally drawn to the midwifery model of care. I'm now the proud mother of 2 waterbabies. Helping women find what is best for them when it comes to birth has been my calling ever since. I am currently completing my Birth Doula (CBD) and Childbirth Educator (CBE) certifications through Birth Arts International.
I was born in Galveston Texas, the youngest of 6 children. We moved to Edinburg Texas when I was 8 years old. At an early age I saw myself becoming a Veterinarian. As I grew up, I later wanted to practice Family Medicine. As life would have it , I would do neither. I took a course as a nursing assistant at a technical institute right after high school. I then enrolled into college with a major in Pre-Med. I married at 21, became a mother at the age of 22 to our son and then later at age 28 to our daughter. Life has a way of working out though. God knew what he had instilled in my heart, and I quickly was drawn to helping families for many years. I became a green Birth Educator through the International Maternity Institute in 2011 and opened my business, Blissful Baby, to support families during pregnancy. I later became a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician. In 2014 I completed my Certification at CAPPA for Childbirth Educators which led me to becoming a DOULA. I have thoroughly enjoyed serving families and will continue to be here to support them , as long as the lord permits.

Making Your Journey To Parenthood Blissful
My admiration for birth began in 2015 when I saw my niece enter this world. That was the first time I witnessed the miracle of birth and it was a truly amazing experience to be the support person for my own sister during such a special time. A year later, my obstetrician coerced me into being induced (she was going on vacation the following week) and consequently forced me into a c-section a few hours later due to “failure to progress.” With my second pregnancy, my birthing experience was even worse. The doctor on call at the hospital immediately decided I would not be allowed to try for a VBAC and would have a repeat c-section without even seeing me first. My birthing plan was thrown out the window both times and I felt as though I had nobody to stand up for me while I was so vulnerable. After those two traumatizing births, I made the decision to switch careers and become a midwife. I'm currently working as a birth doula while I continue my training to become a midwife. I know that birth can be a beautiful experience and want to help other women avoid horror birthing stories, like mine. I want to help you and your family have the amazing birth you deserve.
