We Provide comprehensive prenatal care throughout your entire pregnancy. Your first visit will be at 8-12 weeks and then every 4 weeks until the 32nd week. You will then be seen every 2 weeks until your 36th week and then weekly thereafter. Be advised I do accept new clients up to 41 weeks as long as you have had prenatal care and you are a candidate for home birth or birthing center. Prenatal visits typically last 45 minutes to an hour.
Prenatal labs and cultures will be offered at your first visit and again at 36 weeks. Sonograms are offered at 12 and 20 weeks or if the need arises at any point in your pregnancy.
We believe the woman's body was designed by a Genius. Your body is intended to give birth in a normal natural way. This is enhanced with intimate support and mutual decision making. You will be able to choose which positions to labor in. You have the option of water birth too. You and the baby will be closely monitored throughout labor and birth with technological interventions kept at a minimum.
The golden hour after birth is a very precious time for you, the baby and your family. We encourage skin to skin contact and breastfeeding. We will do our best to leave you as undisturbed as possible during this time. A thorough newborn exam is done at mom’s side when the baby is approximately one to two hours old. You have the option of Vit-K and eye ointment at that time. We stay a minimum of 4 hours and longer if needed.
Checkups are scheduled as follows:
24-72 hour checkup done in office
2 week checkup in office
6 week checkup in office
Having a hospital birth with an OBGYN but feel like you need something more? Our unique services help you prepare your body and mind for labor. I recommend a first meeting early in the pregnancy to create a plan of care for your pregnancy. Then some additional crucial times in the pregnancy are 24, 32, 36, 38, 39 and 40 weeks, so I also recommend appointments at those times. When you think your in labor you can come to the Birthing Center to be checked and stay at the center till you are 5-7cm depending on YOUR birth plan, then head to the hospital. Once at the hospital I am available via phone to help with any of your questions. I am on call for you 24/7 for the duration of your pregnancy.

Most OBGYN appointments are only 5-10 minutes long. This isn't enough time to address most pregnancy discomforts or to set you up for success at the time of the birth. Additional appointments with me provide the supplemental midwifery care that can make your pregnancy a joy and set you up for success in your labor and birth. My years of experience have taught me how to identify the potential pitfalls for an individual woman and to help her take action to avoid these pitfalls. This preparation will help you to have an easier labor, birth and postpartum recovery. There are many factors which can be changed during the pregnancy to make labor and birth much easier for both mother and baby.
The supplemental midwifery care I offer can:
* Prevent hypertension and gestational diabetes
* Prevent nutritional deficiencies and anemia
* Relieve many pregnancy discomforts and prevent others
* Help you prepare your body for the birth to avoid induction and c-section
* Help your baby get into the optimal position for an easier birth
* Review birth options/birth plans to optimize a low intervention labor and birth
* Provide remedies for discomforts not addressed at your OB office
* Help you reach and maintain a higher level of health during pregnancy
* Help you reach a higher level of health after your postpartum recovery than when you became pregnant
